Software Engineer, Fullstack

majr is a new startup working to build modern digital tools for artists and their art. Majr will have a beta product ready in early February and we are looking to expand our team.

As an early-stage startup, we’re looking for generalists with a combination of intellectual curiosity and bias to action. Building a new product and company requires a unique combination of problem solving with execution. We are constantly learning, always grounding our work in hypothesis-led systems thinking and test, learn, repeat. We use TypeScript and build scalable systems so we can continuously make progress on a solid foundation. We don’t expect you to have a background in everything we use, but we do expect strong JavaScript fundamentals and a background working with React, and ideally TypeScript.

What you’ll do

• Work closely with product to build user-facing features with beautiful and performant UI components

• Build scalable backend services and APIs

• Write unit and integration tests to continually improve code quality

• Refactor and migrate existing systems into modular components

• Help scale our service through architectural and infrastructure improvements

• Improve observability, monitoring, and alerting so that we can better respond to incidents

• Wear many hats

What you’ll bring

• Familiarity with React and Typescript

• Understanding of API design and development

• Experience in container orchestration (ECS, Kubernetes, Fargate), Docker, and/or

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms

• Curiosity to pick up new tools and technologies

• An understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns (and when to apply them)

Bonus Points

• Experience building and publishing native mobile apps using Swift or Kotlin

• Familiarity with payment marketplaces such as Stripe

• Experience working with serverless architecture and microservices

• Remote friendly

• Flexible schedule

Artists deserve fair pay
